School starts Sept. 8! Here’s what you need to know for the first day of school

With the 2026-27 school year set to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, 91精选 has put together the following information for parents, caregivers and students on what opening week will look like.


Please note:

Secondary school offices will be open weekdays after 9 a.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.

Elementary school offices will be open weekdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.


K-7 STUDENTS

Kindergarten: Kindergarten students are on a gradual entry schedule for the first two weeks of school. Start dates and times will be provided by your school (please check your email and school websites for information). All kindergarten students will begin regular, full-time attendance on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026.

Elementary: Grade 1 to 7 classes will begin at 10 a.m. and will be dismissed early on opening day. Starting dates and times, and dismissal times, can be confirmed with your individual school.


GRADE 8 TO 12 STUDENTS

Secondary: Secondary schools have a shortened first day as well, with start and end times varying by school and grade. To confirm start and dismissal times, contact your individual school.

Learning Centres: Opening class times and dates may also vary at learning centres and should be confirmed with individual sites. Learning centre offices will be open beginning Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.

Surrey Academy of Innovative Learning (SAIL): Opening class start times and dates will be provided by SAIL. For more information please visit .


ADULT LEARNERS

Adult Education: Registration starts Aug. 31, 2026, for classes beginning in September. For more information, as well as contact information, visit surreyschools.ca/adulted.
